Allegany County approves series of Public Works agreements, bridge and landfill contracts

The Allegany County Board of Legislators on May 28 approved a package of Public Works resolutions authorizing contracts and agreements for bridge projects, right‑of‑way services, snow removal, construction inspection, environmental services and landfill leachate disposal.

Resolutions presented by the Public Works Committee included a modification of a driveway pipe agreement (Resolution Intro. No. 2-29-25), authorizations to execute agreements for property acquisition and relocation for the North Main Street over East Valley Creek bridge replacement project in the village of Andover (Resolution Intro. No. 2-30-25), right-of-way appraisal agreements for the same bridge project (Resolution Intro. No. 2-31-25), approval of snow removal and ice control agreements between the county and several towns (Resolution Intro. No. 2-32-25), supplemental construction inspection services for the Madison Street bridge replacement over the Western NY & PA Railroad (Resolution Intro. No. 2-33-25), environmental maintenance services for the county jail complex (Resolution Intro. No. 2-34-25), and approval of agreements for disposal of county landfill leachate with the village of Wellsville and town of Caneadea (Resolution Intro. No. 2-35-25).

Legislator Fanton moved the set of resolutions, seconded by Legislator Demick; members approved the package with recorded tallies showing 13 ayes and 2 absent where roll calls were taken. The board previously noted these items had committee approval.

Separately, the board also approved a resolution accepting an insurance payment from the New York Municipal Insurance Reciprocal for the replacement of a 2020 Kenworth 10-wheel dump truck (Resolution Intro. No. 2-25-25); legislators briefly discussed potential insurance-rate effects before the resolution passed by roll call (13 ayes, 2 absent).

All approvals were presented as routine contract and procurement actions required by the county’s capital and public works programs; no additional appropriations or policy changes were announced during the meeting.
