Agency members reported an update on the long-discussed Smith project at the Ashford Station site: after prior approvals, the developer has indicated plans to revise and scale back the project.
According to agency remarks, the redesigned proposal will be smaller than the prior submission and aims to keep existing retail in place while building around those businesses. Agency members said that, based on recent conversations with the developer and council feedback, the revised plan may eliminate the need for a new parking garage.
The remarks noted the developer heard concerns from the borough council about parking and easement arrangements. Agency members said the changes appear to respond to community and council input but did not present a formal application during the May 15 meeting.
No formal filings or revised site plans were presented to the agency at the May 15 meeting; agency members indicated they would continue to follow the application when a revised package is submitted to planning staff and the council.
