Council proclaims July 25, 2025, Parks and Recreation Month

The Thomasville City Council read and presented a proclamation recognizing Parks and Recreation Month and urging residents to use local parks and recreation programs.

The proclamation noted parks promote physical activity, mental health, environmental resilience and community programming such as out‑of‑school time programs and youth sports. The text cited statewide economic figures for parks and recreation, saying North Carolina local parks generate over $6 billion in economic activity and provide more than 37,000 jobs.

Corey Tobin, speaking for the Parks and Recreation staff, thanked the mayor and council for the recognition, described the department’s partnerships with other city divisions and promoted upcoming events including the “Fun on the Run” program and pool and Little League activities. The council applauded staff and volunteers for program delivery.
