Trustee Norwood announces Southland Regional Mayoral Black Caucus scholarship for Dolton high school graduates

Trustee Norwood announced that the Southland Regional Mayoral Black Caucus is offering an undergraduate scholarship for recent Dolton high school graduates and urged eligible residents to apply before the July deadline.

The scholarship is open to Dolton residents who have been accepted to an accredited institution of higher learning, including community colleges, private colleges and certified vocational training programs. "You must move fast because the deadline is July," Trustee Norwood said.

Applicants must submit a completed undergraduate scholarship application, verification of college enrollment or a letter of acceptance, a personal statement of 500 words or fewer describing academic and community involvement and future plans, a high school transcript, two references from non-relatives and a recent photograph. Norwood said applicants may obtain a copy of the application by emailing bnorwood@theadult.org, calling (708) 968-4297, or picking one up at the village hall front desk. Completed applications and supporting materials should be emailed to sbc@yahoo.com.

The announcement thanked participating mayors and encouraged Dolton residents to apply. The transcript did not specify the exact day in July by which applications are due.
