Board approves district safety audit, will begin review this fall

The Board of Education approved a district safety audit during the June 18 meeting, and administrators said the review will begin in the fall when staff return to buildings.

Mary (district administrator) told the board the consultant is ready and the district wants to conduct the safety review while staff and relevant stakeholders are available to contribute. The audit was presented as unfinished business and the board moved and seconded approval during the meeting; a roll-call vote recorded board approval.

The administration said it expects the audit engagement to begin in the fall and to involve school staff, administrators, and other stakeholders. The board did not modify the scope at the meeting; implementation steps and the consultant’s timeline will be presented to the board as they are finalized.

Administrators emphasized that the audit is intended to review current safety practices and make recommendations; specific changes would be returned to the board for consideration before implementation.
