Board approves $34,454 budget amendment for Sunny Brazil CTE maintenance and ventilation

The San Benito CISD Board approved a budget amendment to move funds within the CTE program to maintenance accounts for work at the district’s Sunny Brazil agricultural/CTE facility.

Budget staff explained the amendment will fund sand replacement and sanitation work for animal holding pens at Sunny Brazil (an amount staff described as $30,000) and purchase ventilation doors for the Sunny Brazil pro complex ($4,454). Miss Mata described the request as reallocating funds from CTE salaries (positions not filled during the year) to cover maintenance work needed before summer animal events.

“This is to move funding from salaries under the CTE program to the maintenance department for CTE to do sand and sanitation at the Sunny Brazil for a summer project, as well as the ventilation doors at the Sunny Brazil pro complex,” Miss Mata said during the presentation.

The board voted to approve the amendment. A motion was made by Mr. Lopez and seconded by Mr. Gomez; the motion passed.

Administrators said the timing reflects the district’s payroll and vacancy calculations at year end; the work is planned for June–July to prepare facilities for animals and summer activities. The board did not change programmatic staffing as part of this amendment; funding was transferred within the CTE program to cover the maintenance work.
