Council approves 10‑year, $2.1 million contract with Axon for records management; countywide rollout planned

Medford — The City Council unanimously approved a 10‑year contract with Axon Enterprise Inc. valued at $2,098,884.71 to provide a records management system for the Medford Police Department and participating regional agencies.

Why it matters: The new system is intended to consolidate reports, body and fleet camera video, and evidence packages, improving information-sharing with prosecutors and other law enforcement agencies and reducing time officers spend on report writing.

Police presentation and benefits
Deputy Chief Trevor Arnold said the system will replace the department’s existing records platform and is part of a countywide procurement. "We anticipate this is a system that's going to be transitioned to countywide," Arnold said, noting prior experience with Axon body-camera products since 2016 and the expected benefits of integrated evidence handling for coordination with the district attorney’s office.

Council action
After questions about expected system longevity and integration with prosecution management software, Councilor Nick Card moved to approve council bill 2025‑41 and the motion passed on an 8‑0 roll call. City staff said the county’s nine law‑enforcement agencies are each processing comparable contracts.

Next steps
The city will execute the contract and begin implementation work, including integration with existing audiovisual evidence systems and coordination with the Jackson County District Attorney’s office and prosecution‑management software providers.
