Sussex County Council approves 6‑month extension for Roxana storage conditional use

Sussex County Council approved a six‑month time extension on June 10 for a conditional use permit allowing storage units and outdoor boat storage on Roxana Road.

County planning staff told the council that the applicant for conditional use CU 20 293 requested the extension because the project entrance will not be constructed until later this year and the applicant still needs state approvals. Planning and Zoning unanimously recommended the six‑month extension at its June 4 meeting.

County Planner Whitehouse described the site as located on the west side of Roxana Road, roughly 0.68 mile northeast of the Roxana Road and Daisy Road intersection, and said the applicant asked for extra time because construction had not yet started. Whitehouse said a specific construction timetable was not provided, only that the entrance work is expected later this year.

Councilman Lloyd moved to approve the extension; Councilman McCarron seconded. The motion passed by roll call: McCarron yes; Lloyd yes; Grunenbaum yes; Riley yes; Lawson yes.

The extension allows the applicant additional time under the county’s conditional‑use time limits; no new timetable or construction milestones were recorded in the meeting record.
