Board approves chemistry adoption (purchase on hold pending data-privacy agreement) and several student service contracts

The Brecksville-Broadview Heights City Schools Board on June 25 approved a high-school chemistry curriculum adoption but voted to delay any purchase until the vendor provides a required data-privacy agreement (DPA). Dr. Martin, who presented the adoption, said the program includes interactive features for student problem solving and teacher feedback; the board approved the adoption 3'0to 0 but the district will not finalize purchase until the DPA is received.

The board also approved a new agreement with Jefferson County Educational Service Center for digital learning services for students unable to attend on campus. Administrators said the district previously used another ESC consortium program and moved to Jefferson County at a lower cost; the board was told 5'7 students used digital learning this past year.

In addition, the board approved continuations or renewals of several student-service contracts for 2025'1/2026, including agreements with Steps Educational Group, Cleveland Clinic Learner School for autism, United Cerebral Palsy Association, Sendero Therapies and ABA outreach providers. Administrators described these as routine renewals that provide services for students who are outplaced or require specialized supports.
