Henry County commissioners voted Wednesday to close the courthouse on Monday, June 30, and Tuesday, July 1, to allow rewiring work to be completed.
Staff said Duke Energy did not have sufficient personnel available previously to shut power for the work and that the two‑day closure was scheduled so contractors could complete wiring safely. A commissioner said the closure had already been planned; a motion to make the closure official passed, 3-0.
The board did not provide additional details about service impacts or alternative arrangements for county services during the closure at the meeting. Staff said they had already planned the closure and would proceed with obtaining permits or contractor scheduling as needed.
The closure was recorded as an official board action; further public notice and departmental instructions were expected to follow in staff communications.
