The Taos Municipal Schools Board of Education exited an executive session at 11:14 p.m. after meeting privately to discuss limited personnel matters and to provide evaluation feedback, board members said.
The board entered executive session at 5:46 p.m. under section 10-15-1(H)(2) of the New Mexico Open Meetings Act to allow the superintendent to update the board on “specific employee movements and contemplated movements,” a board speaker said. The board also discussed continuing end-of-year evaluation results and priorities going forward, the speaker added.
A staff member announced, “The board has exited executive session. For the record, it is 11:14PM,” and noted the earlier entry time. The board then moved and seconded a motion to exit executive session; Board member Concha, Board member King, Vice President Spray and President Flores recorded “yes” votes during the roll call.
During the meeting the board scheduled two upcoming sessions: a special board meeting on July 1, 2025, at 5:30 p.m. at the Administration Building and a regular board meeting on July 23, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. The meeting adjourned shortly after the exit, with members voting “aye” on a motion to adjourn and the hour recorded near 11:16 p.m.
The executive session was limited to the personnel topics described, and meeting remarks emphasized that nothing else was discussed in that executive session. The superintendent provided the updates and received evaluation feedback from the board as part of ongoing conversations about end-of-year priorities.
The board’s public announcement included the statutory basis for the closed session and the two meeting dates; no further details about the personnel matters discussed or any personnel actions were disclosed in the public record during the meeting.
