District staff told the board on Tuesday that multiple summer facilities projects are underway across Berwyn South SD 100, including HVAC unit installations at Emerson, roofing, gym-floor refurbishment at Heritage and early foundation work at a new building at 3000 Ridgeland.
Construction manager updates come as the district works with F.H. Paschen and Arcon (construction partners) to coordinate weekly project meetings and contractor communications, staff said.
Staff reported that Univent HVAC units for Emerson have arrived or been shipped and installations are on track; some units were still pending. Heritage Middle School’s gym floor has been redone and awaits final coats, and Heritage and Emerson are receiving carpeting and deep cleaning ahead of summer school operations.
The district said a state maintenance grant funded exterior door replacements at Pershing, Kamensky and Heritage; Pershing door work is nearly complete with some mechanical adjustments remaining and Kamensky and Heritage doors scheduled in the coming weeks.
Work on the new building at 3000 Ridgeland is progressing: the west portion and parts of the south foundation footings are complete. Staff said they are awaiting a municipal water-line hookup before completing the remaining footings on the second side of the building.
District staff emphasized frequent coordination among multiple contractors and vendors and said the projects are going smoothly so far. The board asked for ongoing updates and staff said they would continue to report progress at subsequent meetings.
