A Struthers City Council member on June 11 praised a safety department staff member, saying the staffer has been cooperative and responsive to constituents, and council reiterated that staff may submit written reports and appear at meetings when requested.
The remarks are notable because council members publicly acknowledged the safety staffer’s conduct while also clarifying that staff reports will be part of the communications process and that staff can come to council meetings when needed.
One council member said the staffer “he was very cooperative, and I think that he he will pretty much do whatever we ask ask of him.” The same speaker told colleagues the staffer “tries resolving problems, in a in a in a very humanitarian way.” Another council member replied, “I agree with you, Jim.”
Council discussed receiving reports and noted staff attendance is optional; council members said they can ask specific staff, such as the safety service director or other referenced staff, to attend meetings when the council wants additional detail. The meeting recorded no personnel actions, formal reprimands, or formal commendations — the remarks were verbal recognition and contextual to the discussion about how safety reports will be handled going forward.
