The Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District governing board on June 26 approved a three-year amended employment agreement for Superintendent Sachs, effective July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2028, and separately ratified negotiated agreements with district employee organizations.
The actions matter because they fix leadership continuity for the district and implement contract changes for multiple employee groups that the board and union leaders described as aimed at attracting and retaining staff amid inflationary pressures.
Board members voted to approve the superintendent's amended contract during the board's human resources action items. Trustee Flynn urged approval, saying, "Throughout her tenure, Superintendent Sachs has demonstrated exceptional leadership," and urged the board to ratify the contract. The motion carried following a roll call vote recorded as all in favor.
At the same meeting the board approved the final tentative agreement between the Fairfield-Suisun Unified Teachers Association (FSUTA/FSUDA) and the district covering July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2028. Pam Williamson, speaking for teachers during public comment, described bargaining as collaborative: "For me, the most important piece of how our bargaining cycle went this year was because of the conversations we had at the table," Williamson said. Board members noted the agreement was ratified by more than 85% of the teachers.
The board also approved revised salary schedules and tentative agreements affecting classified and support units represented by CSEA, the ancillary professions association (APA), and management/confidential groups. Trustee Tilley and others praised the collaborative negotiations and the district's ability to offer compensation increases despite "very uncertain waters," according to Tilley.
The board approved a motion to adopt the various negotiated agreements and salary schedules; votes on those items were recorded as carried with the board's stated support. Several trustees used the meeting to emphasize a goal of retaining employees and strengthening student outcomes.
The board simultaneously authorized administrative housekeeping related to the agreements, including effective dates and incorporation of revised schedules into district payroll processes. There were no public speakers opposing the agreements during the meeting.
Board members who spoke about the contracts included Trustee Flynn (member, Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District Governing Board), Trustee Tilley (member), and Trustee Hundley (member). Pam Williamson (representative, teacher bargaining unit) addressed the board during public comment; Superintendent Sachs was present for the items and received the board's approval of her contract.
Looking ahead, board members said they expect continued bargaining and collaborative discussions when contract negotiations resume in the fall.
