The Rockingham County Board of Commissioners voted on June 26 to approve a three-year contract for contracted prosecution services for the sheriff’s department with Heather Iwaski, Esquire, and Andrea Mitrucci, Esquire, of Iwaski Law PLLC.
The contract was approved authorizing payments not to exceed $80,000 for fiscal year 2026, $84,000 for fiscal year 2027 and $88,000 for fiscal year 2028, as recommended by the sheriff’s department. Commissioners moved and seconded the motion and voted to approve it, with one commissioner abstaining due to a personal working relationship with one of the attorneys.
Commissioners noted the contract was the only bid received and that the solicitation had been out to bid for two weeks. One commissioner said they frequently work with Heather Iwaski and cover for each other and therefore would abstain from the vote; that abstention was recorded and the motion carried.
No other competitive bids were reported in the meeting record, and no amendments to the proposed contract amounts were discussed during the public portion of the meeting.
