Tallmadge — Mayor Kilway reported to the Tallmadge City Council on June 26 that the city’s public-safety staff recently reached several staffing milestones.
The mayor said Patrol Officer Aaron Firsick, sworn in May 28, completed police academy training and will begin field training with the Tallmadge Police Department on Monday, June 30. Mayor Kilway said patrol Officer Hunter Chapman, hired in March, successfully completed field training and is now serving on solo patrol.
On the fire side, Mayor Kilway reported that Diamond Carper, previously a part‑time firefighter, passed the National Registry paramedic certification, successfully completed the civil-service process for a full‑time fire medic position and was sworn in as a full‑time fire medic on Monday, June (date given as part of mayor’s remarks).
The mayor extended congratulations to the officers and the new full‑time fire medic. No formal council action was required to note the personnel updates; they were presented as administrative reports.
