The Big Walnut Local Schools Board of Education unanimously adopted a Parent Bill of Rights policy and three related policies during its June 26 meeting.
The measures were approved after a second reading and roll call. The board adopted the Parent Bill of Rights policy and policies numbered 1613, 3213 and 4213, each of which references the newly adopted Parent Bill of Rights.
The policies concern student supervision and welfare; as presented at the meeting, each policy included language tying its provisions to the Parent Bill of Rights. The superintendent summarized the connection, saying the three policies are ‘‘all student supervision and welfare’’ and that the references were held pending adoption of the Parent Bill of Rights.
Board members cast affirmative votes during the roll call. The board president called for adoption, a motion and second were made, and the roll call returned unanimous approval from the members present.
The action completed a multi-step process the board had used to ensure referenced policies aligned with the newly adopted Parent Bill of Rights. No implementation steps beyond the vote were specified at the meeting.
