The Harahan City Council unanimously passed Proposed Resolution 2025-13 on June 26 to acknowledge a specific city-owned parcel as one lot of record and to direct the city clerk to file the acknowledgment with Jefferson Parish public land records.
Councilman Jason Asbille explained the measure, which consolidates roughly 16 acres including Sonia Playground, adjacent properties across Hickory and the fire station site, and attaches historical documentation (an act of sale from 1954 and older maps) showing the city's interest. He said the action is an administrative step required by FEMA and contract/survey processes before the city can proceed with rebuilding the fire station.
Council members thanked Asbille for research and said the resolution will facilitate required surveys and FEMA documentation. The resolution passed 5' 0.
