The Forest Grove School District board approved an amended agenda item July 1 to add and then authorize a $192,500 contract with the Community Based Activities Program (CBAP), a Forest Grove nonprofit, to provide extended school‑year (ESY) services for students with disabilities.
Director of Student Services Dr. Shear presented the item, saying the district contracts annually with CBAP for ESY services. She told the board about roughly 55 students who attend the program each summer and that the contract amount exceeded the $50,000 threshold requiring board approval. The program operates June 24 through Aug. 1, 2025.
Board members asked for a brief history of the partnership. A staff member with long tenure said the relationship predates her 18 years with the district and noted CBAP provides community activities, field trips and social activities as part of the ESY program.
After public discussion, the board moved to approve the contract as presented. The motion carried on an all‑in‑favor vote, recorded in the meeting transcript as passing with no opposition. The contract will be executed and the nonprofit will run the ESY program under terms in the contract; no additional funding breakdowns beyond the total contract amount were provided in the meeting remarks.
