The Mainland Planning Commission on July 1 approved a site plan to build five prefabricated metal warehouses on Eastgate Drive in Glynn County.
Senior planner Christina Wright presented the staff report, saying the proposal is for "a total of 5 warehouses, 4 of which are 10,004 square feet" and one of 9,089 square feet on approximately 6.04 acres in the Golden Isles Gateway planned development district. Wright said the use is permitted in the Office/Distribution/Industrial character area shown on the county master plan. The applicant is listed as ZLF Design Company representing Glencoe McBride Development Associates and the Brunswick and Glynn County Development Authority.
Architect Zach Farrell, the applicant's agent, told commissioners the intended occupancy is commercial/industrial: "it's light commercial and, industrial. That's that's those are the uses." Commissioners asked about traffic and frontage; Farrell said the site has frontage on the nearby cul‑sac and he did not anticipate traffic issues. No members of the public stepped forward to speak in favor or opposition during the public hearing.
A commissioner made a motion to approve SP‑25‑14 as presented; the motion was seconded and the commission voted 5–0 to approve the site plan.
The approval is limited to the site plan shown to the commission and is subject to any standard conditions recorded in the final staff report and platting process. Future tenant uses or change of use will be reviewed under applicable zoning and permitting rules.
