Board reviews education service agreements, including MOU with city for two school-resource officers

Miss Sainz presented several items under the education report at the July 1 North Ridgeville City Board of Education meeting and said they were being presented as a first reading.

Items listed in the transcript for first reading included: a multiyear agreement with Thomson Reuters for CLEAR investigation software to assist with residency verification; student-transportation contracts with Professional Van Service Company and America's Best Transportation; renewal of service contracts with the Educational Service Center of Northeast Ohio for vision and hearing support; a renewal agreement with East Central Ohio Educational Service Center for distance-education courses in American Sign Language and Mandarin; and a memorandum of understanding with the City of North Ridgeville to support the school-resource-officer program with two officers.

Miss Sainz said these items are in first reading and that a second reading and consideration for approval would occur at the board's July 15 regular meeting. The transcript does not record debate or votes on these items at the July 1 meeting.

Why it matters: The agreements cover operational supports used by the district ' student residency verification, contracted transportation, vision/hearing services, distance-learning courses and the presence of two school-resource officers (SROs) under an MOU with the city. Approval on July 15 would convert these proposals into contracts and operational arrangements.
