Travis Smith revoked and sentenced to five years after probation violations

Judge Stephanie Boyd revoked Travis Shane Smith’s deferred adjudication and sentenced him to five years in prison after Smith pleaded true to a supervision violation for failing to verify attendance at required meetings.

The state proceeded on violation of condition 17 — failure to attend or verify Alcoholics Anonymous/Narcotics Anonymous meetings for multiple months in 2019 — and Smith acknowledged the allegation. The state waived remaining violations. Smith told the court that noncompliance stemmed from lack of funds and later complacency; he said he has worked as a welder and fabricator in recent years.
