License office flags BYOB and common victualler lapses at Faye Play Truck Cafe; commission orders informational hearing

Licensing staff reported June 25 that an incident on June 1 outside Faye Play Truck Cafe prompted outreach to the establishment and that the business did not have a current common victualler certificate or a BYOB license for 2025. Staff said officers dispersed a crowd at the incident and later spoke with a person presenting as the owner; staff were unable to confirm who held the manager of record and could not reach the listed manager.

Staff told the commission there had been “quite a bit of alcohol on the premises” during the incident and that the business had since picked up applications for a BYOB and a common victualler license but had not completed licensure. Licensing counsel and commissioners discussed possible enforcement steps and whether the commission could apply violations retroactively once a license is renewed.

Attorney Schmidt recommended scheduling a prehearing conference or informational hearing to review potential violations and legal options; commissioners moved to request an informational hearing and the motion passed. Staff will set a date and provide notice to the establishment and any identified owners or managers.
