Wakefield School Committee shifts two meeting dates, plans retreat and liaison handoffs

The Wakefield School Committee announced two changes to its 2025–26 calendar and said it is planning a committee retreat, though a date has not been set.

The chair said the Sept. 23 meeting will move to Thursday, Sept. 25, at 7:00 p.m., and the Nov. 11 meeting will move to Wednesday, Nov. 12, so those meetings do not fall on holidays. The chair asked committee members who are switching liaison assignments to communicate with the outgoing liaisons so contacts and responsibilities transfer smoothly.

Committee members discussed planning a retreat; the chair and an administrator met in late June and said they are considering options including a weekend retreat or a session at the end of summer. No final date or formal agenda for the retreat was set in the meeting record.

Subcommittee reports were brief: finance and facilities, waiver and personnel, student services, and policy and communications reported they had not met over the summer but expressed intent to schedule meetings before the school year begins. Student services noted plans to engage CPAC in work related to school start times.

The committee’s next regular meeting is scheduled for Aug. 12 at 7:00 p.m.
