Walton County commissioners unanimously approved the administrative consent agenda on July 2, which included a change order for the new Public Safety Complex, award of food-service and maintenance contracts, and contract-authority actions needed to transition the facility from construction to operations.
Change order and reimbursement: County staff said the design team missed a roof vent for a dishwasher at the new facility, requiring a change order to penetrate the new roof and install the vent; the county expects a partial credit for the error and said the total change order remains within the project's budget.
Operations contracts: The board accepted a competitive bid for maintenance of the new Public Safety Complex and awarded that contract to TKC Management Services to staff and maintain the larger facility when construction turnover is complete. The board also awarded the county's food-service contract at the detention facility to Summit Correctional Services; staff said Summit was approximately $200,000 cheaper than the next bidder and that the price holds subject to the contract terms and inmate counts over the three-year initial term.
Next steps: Staff said turnover work will continue between the contractor and the maintenance team to compile warranty documentation and move the facility into daily operations. The board also noted a forthcoming procurement for inmate medical services expected later in July.
Vote and oversight: Commissioners approved the consent agenda items and related contracts by unanimous vote. Staff emphasized that the contracts contain cancellation-for-cause provisions and extension options consistent with the county's procurement procedures.
