Christopher Daley, superintendent of schools, told the Gates Chili Board of Education that a vacancy exists on the board following the resignation of Carrie Keis, who had served since February 2018.
Daley said the appointed term will run through May 2026 and that the selected candidate may run in the annual budget vote and board election in May 2026. He directed interested applicants to submit materials to the district clerk by a 3 p.m. deadline on Monday, July 21. Applications must include a brief statement of interest, the applicant's full name and home address, and relevant experience or qualifications. Daley said applicants must be residents of the Gates Chili Central School District.
The district clerk was identified in the announcement as Condanesa Brown for application submissions. Daley also promoted a support-staff hiring fair on Thursday, July 10, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the GC Field House, and the board publicly congratulated Keisha Carter on earning a doctorate.
Discussion-only vs. formal action: this item was an announcement of a vacancy and instructions for applying; the transcript records no vote or appointment at this meeting.
