Downtown cafe gets temporary parklet permit for Midtown Mall entrance; food only, 10 a.m.–10 p.m.

The Worcester License Commission approved a temporary parklet and outdoor-food permit for Ours by Nature at the Midtown Mall's Mechanic Street entrance, allowing outdoor food service from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The applicant said the parklet will occupy two parking spaces directly outside the Mechanic Street entrance and will use materials previously provided for a similar downtown installation. The Downtown Worcester BID and city staff supported the layout; licensing staff confirmed the plan does not include alcohol and that the parklet is for food service only.

Commissioners approved the hours 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and noted the parklet's purpose also includes increasing public awareness that the business is located inside the Midtown Mall. The commission reminded the applicant to follow any required inspectional or street-closure approvals and to keep the parklet footprint within the approved two spaces.

The motion passed without objection.
