City of Sedalia approves updated mutual-aid agreement with Whiteman Air Force Base fire department

The Sedalia City Council on July 7 approved an ordinance authorizing a mutual-aid agreement between the Sedalia Fire Department and the Whiteman Air Force Base fire department.
City staff described the update as a formalization of longstanding mutual support for fire protection, emergency medical services, hazardous-material responses and technical rescue. The ordinance (Bill No. 2025-118) authorizes the city to enter into an agreement with the secretary of the Air Force acting through the commander of the 509th Bomb Wing at Whiteman AFB.
Council approved the ordinance on second reading and final passage without recorded opposition. City staff recommended the updated agreement to strengthen regional emergency response cooperation.
