County staff and legal counsel reported June 25 that they will seek a one‑year services agreement with Siemens for maintenance of the Community Justice Center security system while pursuing competitive options for future years.
James (county facilities) said the system is comprised of components from multiple manufacturers (Bosch, Siemens and others) and that a short one‑year contract will provide necessary updates while staff solicit other contractors such as local firms for year‑two service. Counsel and staff said the original order and related findings in the packet should not be approved as presented; instead they will ask Siemens to revise the order form to incorporate an addendum that altered standard Siemens terms in ways favorable to the county.
Counsel said if Siemens accepts a revised one‑year order incorporating the addendum, the county manager could sign the contract without a full board meeting provided the dollar value remains similar; staff also will determine whether a competitive process is required because the contract exceeds $25,000. No contract was signed at the meeting; staff will return with a recommended procurement path and, if appropriate, a county‑signed addendum.
