Baker County commissioners voted unanimously June 2025 to adopt the county’s fiscal-year 2025–26 budget and to set the ad valorem property tax rate at $3.7286 per $1,000 of assessed value.
The board approved Resolution 2025-1003 to impose the tax rate and Resolution 2025-1004 to adopt and appropriate the budget in the total amount of $53,947,007.29. Commissioners said the adopted budget includes three minor adjustments to beginning fund balances, with the additional amounts placed in contingency lines.
County staff identified the three adjustments as: increasing the beginning balance for the school-based health clinic (department 239) by $10,000, increasing the beginning balance and contingency in the children and family commission (department 221) by $25,000, and increasing the Fair Board department (department 251) beginning balance by about $30,000 after a review of records. The changes raised the Fair Board beginning balance to about $108,090.58, with the difference added to contingency.
During the meeting staff read aloud the tax imposition language required for the record and then presented the appropriation resolution, which lists the adopted amounts by fund and purpose. The board voted “aye” on both resolutions; the chair declared the motions carried and instructed staff to publish the adopted budget.
The county clerk and finance staff indicated they will publish the final budget documents and return the physical copies to the commissioners.
The adoption and tax imposition concluded the scheduled budget business; the board proceeded to other agenda items.
