Baker County commissioners voted June 2025 to approve multiple budget resolutions recognizing additional grant revenues and moving appropriation authority within county funds.
Resolution 2025-1005 recognized unanticipated revenues including an additional $51,000 in CACF funds for victim services under the district attorney’s office; those dollars were placed into materials and services for CACF expenses. The board also approved recognizing a $26,000 small-rural grant and a $10,000 CIS grant for the sheriff’s office and additional funding from Idaho Power; the sheriff is expected to purchase a vehicle and upfitting with Idaho Power to reimburse approximately $74,000 for that purchase and a portion of the body-worn camera purchases.
Separately, the board recognized $163,004.94 in CJC medical assistance funds for in-jail medical treatment and added appropriation for the jail. Community corrections (probation) received an additional $66,900 in community corrections funds and emergency management received a $38,700 grant listed for capital purchase of equipment.
The board also approved Resolution 2025-1006, which moves appropriation authority within departments to cover salary changes that could not be absorbed elsewhere; county staff detailed transfers to administrative services, technology, emergency management and parks where personnel and time allocations changed midyear. Resolution 2025-1007 recognized a specialty court grant in the drug court fund and 2025-1008 adjusted County Fire Authority Fund lines to move $15,000 from materials and services into personnel. Resolution 2025-1009 recognized $20,000 of Fair Board-sponsored event revenues to be expended for summer programming, and Resolution 2025-1010 recognized $20,000 in museum grants for construction and repair work. Finally, Resolution 2025-1011 moved retro-financing authority to a capital line in the insurance fund to cover equipment commitments related to body-camera purchases.
All motions were made and approved by unanimous voice vote; commissioners asked staff to prepare the necessary documentation for publication and accounting entries. Staff said some purchases (for example, the sheriff vehicle) will be made by the sheriff and then reimbursed by Idaho Power.
