County to apply for ~ $9,000 hazardous-waste grant and hold 26th collection day on Sept. 6

The Allegany County Department of Public Works requested board permission to apply for the New York State household hazardous waste state assistance program grant in the amount of approximately $9,000. Windus said the grant would reimburse roughly 50% of total expenses incurred by the county to sponsor its household hazardous waste day, a local event for the safe collection and proper disposal of household hazardous materials.

The board approved the application request by voice vote. Windus also asked the board for permission to hold the county's 26th annual household hazardous waste day on Sept. 6, 2025; the board approved that request as well.
