The Warren County Finance and Budget Committee approved a request to transfer $6,600 from the contingent account to repair the transmission on a weights and measures truck used by Jeff Waddell.
Staff told the committee that the vehicle — roughly four years old and used to carry scales and other testing equipment — had its transmission diagnosed at a Dodge dealership, which recommended replacement. Supervisor Jurachi moved the transfer; Supervisor Casito seconded the motion.
Some supervisors said the truck still drove with only difficulty in fifth gear and suggested obtaining a second opinion from a local transmission shop before authorizing full payment. County staff advised the truck was at the dealership and that scheduling at alternate shops could be delayed; staff also said Waddell needs the truck to perform statutory duties related to weights and measures inspections.
After discussion, the committee approved the $6,600 transfer to cover the cost. Supervisors asked staff to pursue a second opinion or better pricing where feasible while proceeding with the repair because the vehicle is in service and may need timely work.
