Applicant requests deferral on Delano Road rezoning after submitting documents to staff; commission agrees to Aug. 20 postponement

The Planning Commission on July 16 deferred a rezoning application (Z25‑015) for 4880 Delano Road, where the applicant seeks to rezone from AG‑1 to R‑4A to build five single‑family detached homes on about 1.82 acres.

Staff advised the commission that the application had been recommended for denial in the staff report. Applicant Nia Boswell told commissioners she had held an initial public participation meeting, had met with Councilwoman Willis and had emailed documentation to staff on May 22 that she said had not been considered in staff’s analysis. Boswell asked for a deferral so the planning department could review the submitted materials and she could hold a follow‑up public meeting for long‑term residents in the Red Oak District.

Given Boswell’s explanation and staff’s recommendation, the commission voted to defer Z25‑015 to the Aug. 20 planning commission meeting to allow the applicant and staff to reconcile submitted information and complete outreach.

Ending: The applicant was advised to work with planning staff to ensure the public participation report and any additional materials are filed and received in time for the Aug. 20 hearing.
