Logansport parks report: clubhouse, driving range and splashpad projects progress; ADA assessment nearing completion

Parks staff told the Logansport Board of Public Works and Safety on July 16 that multiple capital and programmatic projects in city parks are advancing, with several near completion.
Why it matters: The improvements affect public amenities and program schedules for residents who use parks, pools, and recreational facilities in Logansport.
Jan, the parks representative, said the clubhouse renovation has been under way for a couple of months and that driving-range seating is completed. Construction of the maintenance barn began this week, and the simulator room is “coming along” and may open in three to four weeks, Jan said. Trail cameras are being installed incrementally and an ADA assessment is “almost done” pending the final report.
Jan also reported that a storage barn and Spencer Park playground work are expected in August, and that rental lockers (described as “Iron Horse lockers”) now available operate at $2 per hour and require use of a phone and a photo of the returned equipment to avoid additional charges. Jan provided participation counts for lessons and programs: 27 swim lessons in June, 32 tennis lessons and 41 golf lessons; the Firefly Walk at Houston Park drew 86 attendees. Jan said the daily Summer to Sundown music series has run most Sundays and that the Cass County Arts Alliance manages that program.
The board voted to approve the parks monthly report during the meeting.
