Alder flags support for water‑plant solar array ahead of Monday deliberation

At the start of Thursday’s Capital Improvement Committee meeting, alderman Joe Jean briefly voiced support for a proposed solar array at the city water plant and urged the committee to consider it during upcoming CIP deliberations.
Joe Jean said he had come in while on vacation to “voice my support for the solar array at the water plant” and that he believed “this is the right spot to fund it from,” adding the array would demonstrate city support for renewable energy and help the water utility with operating costs. He offered to be contacted by email or phone with questions prior to the committee’s Monday deliberation, when the full solar‑array presentation will be heard.
The committee did not deliberate on the solar project Thursday; the topic was scheduled for a more detailed presentation and ranking at the Monday meeting.
