The City Council approved two Police Department requests funded through the Cullman Police Department Foundation: the design-build of an upgraded real-time crime center for the new precinct and the purchase and outfitting of three patrol vehicles.
Police leadership reported that the real-time crime center project will be fully funded by the Police Foundation. The chief said the foundation balance stood at $1,699,264.10 and that the real-time crime center project would cost $547,183.34. "This will leave us with the remaining balance in the foundation of $1,152,080.76," the chief reported. He also said he had received verbal commitments for two major donations and noted a sold-out police foundation golf tournament.
Noah White of Fountainhead Control Rooms, who identified himself as "manager of control room solutions," described a design with three analyst positions, each with individual displays, and a large-format video wall plus an adjacent conference/"War Room" for command staff to view operations without interrupting analysts.
Council members approved the real-time crime center as presented; the motion passed 5-0.
Separately, the chief requested approval to buy three patrol vehicles. The lowest quote for vehicles was $42,361 each from Jackie Jones Dodge for Dodge Durangos (total $127,083). Outfitting from the vendor who outfits the city's vehicles was quoted at $32,495.23 for all three, bringing the full purchase and outfitting cost to $159,578.23. The chief said this purchase would also be funded through the Police Foundation and would not use city budget funds. The council approved the purchase of the vehicles and outfitting on a 5-0 vote.
The transcript records the funding source (Police Foundation) and cited foundation balances before and after the real-time crime center purchase; no contracts or vendor purchase orders were included in the recorded discussion. The council did not set timelines for installation or vehicle delivery in the recorded remarks.
