DeBary council sets solid-waste assessment at $295 per residential unit for 2025–26

The DeBary City Council voted to adopt Resolution No. 2025-09 setting the solid-waste non-ad valorem assessment for fiscal year 2025–26 at $295 per residential unit.

Staff and council members said the change reflects the recently renewed contract with Waste Pro and increased county dumping fees. The city manager described the negotiated rate as favorable compared with neighboring jurisdictions: "We negotiated a rate that's significantly less than the market rate," staff said, referencing examples where comparable rates ranged from about $22.97 to $27 per month in other jurisdictions.

Vice Mayor Butland and others thanked staff for the negotiations; no public comment was received. The motion to adopt the resolution passed unanimously.
