Planning Commission names two representatives to housing affordability code task force

At the July 8 meeting, the Planning Commission selected two commissioners to serve as its representatives on a City of Grand Junction housing affordability code task force created after a June 30 city‑council workshop.

Staff explained the task force’s scope will include reviewing potential code amendments to produce recommendations for consideration by the Planning Commission and City Council. The task force is expected to meet roughly twice monthly over a 6–9 month timeframe, though staff noted workloads could extend that timeline as needed.

Two commissioners volunteered to represent the commission; the chair confirmed the selections and noted the Planning Commission will continue to receive periodic updates. Staff also said meeting details (including whether meetings will be open to the public) will be confirmed with city attorneys and posted in accordance with open‑meetings rules before the task force begins meeting.

The Planning Commission’s representatives will act as liaison members: participating in the task-force discussions, then bringing proposed code changes through the Planning Commission review process if the task force recommends amendments.
