Britney Schultz, senior animal control officer at the Nancy J. Brewer Animal Care Center in the City of Sierra Vista, announced a Splash Zone adoption event for July 19 at the shelter, 6799 E. Highway 90. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and discounted adoption rates continue through the shelter’s 5 p.m. closing.
Schultz said standard dog adoptions normally priced at $75 will be offered for $50 during the event, and cats normally priced at $50 will be adopted for $25. The shelter completed an expansion that added 18 kennels, 14 of which are in the adoption courtyard and are currently housing animals available for adoption.
Schultz described the event as family-friendly, with water play for children, frozen treats, a dunk tank and an activity called the “munching machine.” She said prospective adopters can meet animals in the adoption courtyard, complete an application and — if approved — often take the animal home the same day. The shelter requires a meet-and-greet for people who want to bring an existing dog to ensure compatibility.
For more information Schultz provided the shelter address and encouraged residents to visit the shelter during event hours.
