Board renews Aramark contract to provide food services at county detention center

The Board of Lorain County Commissioners approved a renewal of the county's contract with Aramark Correctional Services LLC to provide food service at the detention home and county complex.

The contract is effective retroactive to July 1, 2025, and runs through June 2026 with a mutual option for an additional one-year renewal, county staff said. The agreement includes a 60-day cancellation clause and will be paid from the department’s contract services account.

A commissioner noted the county uses the same vendor to serve other county facilities and said consolidating vendors produces economies of scale. Commissioners approved the renewal on a voice vote with all members present voting aye.

Less critical details: a commissioner thanked staff for conducting a multi-bid process and noted fiscal diligence in seeking cost savings.
