Council approves maintenance agreement with Capital Electric for streetlight service

Lincoln City Council approved an agreement with Capital Electric for service work on certain streetlights, mayoral staff said.

City staff reviewed the agreement with Capital Electric’s attorney and reported no legal objections. The contract sets a fixed per‑pole service rate and does not require Capital Electric to provide equipment or spare parts, staff said.

Members noted one contract requirement will be for the city to host a web form so that residents and staff can submit streetlight outage reports; staff will coordinate with Capital Electric to ensure reporting and response procedures are in place.

A motion to approve the agreement carried on a recorded vote; staff said they will follow up by implementing the required reporting form on the city website and coordinating operational details with the utility.
