Kokomo board receives six bids for Fire Station No. 6; takes them under advisement

The Kokomo Board of Public Works and Safety received six sealed bids June 4 for construction of Fire Station No. 6 and voted to take the submissions under advisement.

The most competitive bid was from Myers Construction Management Inc. at $8,830,000. Other bids listed in the meeting record were: Gilead General Contractors at $8,941,000; Brown and Brown General Contractors at $9,032,800; MKS at $9,255,000; Her in Construction at $9,398,000; and R. L. Turner at $9,750,000. The board did not vote to award the contract at the meeting; it approved a motion “to take the bids for Station Number 6 under advisement.”

Board members read the bid amounts into the record during the public meeting. The board’s action preserves the full competitive bid record for later review and award; no additional discussion of scope, timeline or funding was recorded during the bid-opening portion of the meeting.

The bid-opening was recorded as part of the June 4 meeting of the Board of Public Works and Safety, which handles contracting and public-works approvals for Kokomo City. The board’s vote to take the bids under advisement was unanimous.
