The Hammond City Board of Public Works and Safety on April 17 approved a professional services agreement with American StructurePoint for $247,400 to design the platform for the Hammond Downtown Station.
Dean Button presented the contract and said the firm was selected through the city’s federal procurement process. He told the board, "Funding for this project comes from a grant that we received from the state of Indiana through the Northwest Indiana Forum, commonly referred to as the Ready Grant for the downtown Hammond Station." Representatives John Kennedy and Eric Wolverton of American StructurePoint attended the meeting; Button asked the board for approval and said funds are available under the grant.
Board members expressed no questions and approved the agreement by voice. Staff noted a second proposer had offered geotechnical services only and was not considered because StructurePoint was the responsive proposer for the full scope.
No roll-call vote or statutory citation was provided in the meeting record. The contract will move forward to design work under the grant terms.
