The Finance Administration Committee on July 17 recommended awarding two capital construction contracts to the lowest responsible bidder for stormwater bumpouts and sidewalk restoration.
Staff reported four stormwater bumpouts will be installed—two on Grayling and one each on Essex and Dudley—located where Stewart Avenue crosses through; the two on Grayling will be 20 feet long based on community feedback and the other two will be 40 feet long. The low bid for the stormwater work was reported as $78,688.85; roughly $60,000 of that cost will be covered by a county conservation district low‑volume road grant.
The sidewalk restoration contract covers sidewalks around the block surrounding Borough Hall and Norworth Park. The low bid for the sidewalk work was reported as $148,950.75 with a contingency allowance of $500.25, which is slightly below the project's budgeted amount of $155,000. Staff noted the same contractor submitted the low bids for both projects, which the borough said simplifies coordination.
Committee members voted to recommend awarding the bids to the lowest responsible bidder; supporting bid documents were included in the meeting packet. Staff said grant paperwork supports the stormwater scope and the projects are capital expenditures in the borough's capital plan.
