Grants Pass SD 7 elects new chair, retains monthly meeting schedule with fourth-Tuesday placeholder

The Grants Pass SD 7 Board of Directors completed its annual organizational business and elected officers for the coming term.

During nominations, the board heard proposals for chair and vice chair. Two members were nominated for chair; following discussion and a vote consistent with the board’s procedure, the board installed Dustin as chair. The board later elected Member Schmidt as vice chair and agreed to the nomination of Chad Dibdahl as parliamentarian.

The board also set its regular meeting schedule: the second Tuesday of each month at 5 p.m. will remain the regular monthly meeting time. Directors asked administration to post a standing placeholder for a fourth Tuesday of each month (to be canceled when unnecessary) so the board has a regular workshop slot available for policy or other work. Board members said having that predictable placeholder helps members juggling multiple board commitments.

Board leaders encouraged staff to circulate the full-year meeting schedule as placeholders so members can plan conflicts in advance. The organizational elections and meeting-calendar decisions were handled as part of the consent/organization portion of the agenda.
