Michigan House adjourns after lack of quorum; reconvenes July 24 at noon

The Michigan House of Representatives adjourned its session after the clerk announced a lack of quorum; the clerk said the chamber will reconvene Thursday, July 24, at 12:00 noon. "Mister speaker, a quorum of the house is not present," a House member said, and the clerk then closed the session.
The adjournment means scheduled floor business will be delayed until the reconvening. Earlier in the brief session the Clerk announced that bills had been reproduced and made available electronically and read several meeting notices and communications.
The Clerk opened the proceedings with routine attendance procedures: "The house will come to order. Clerk will open the board for the purposes of taking attendance. Members may check-in at their desks. The clerk will close the board, tally, display, and announce today's attendance," the Clerk said. After the attendance check and announcements, the session was adjourned due to the lack of a quorum.
No motions, votes, or substantive legislative actions were taken before adjournment. The Clerk set the next meeting time as Thursday, July 24, at 12:00 noon.
