The Monongalia County Board of Education on July 22 approved multiple contracts for medical and related services procured under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
Staff presented four separate contract awards: speech and language services and occupational therapy to Best Life Therapies, vision services to WVU Medicine Eye Institute, and sign‑language interpreting services to Americas. The contracts were procured through a bid process administered by district procurement staff.
A staff member explained the contracts “are achieved through a bid process that goes through Nicole's office,” and recommended the board accept each contract. Each item was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
Why it matters: These contracts supply services required for students with disabilities and are funded through IDEA — the federal program that supports special education and related services. Approving vendors ensures continuity of services as the new school year begins.
Next steps: The district will finalize contract documents and oversee vendor performance under IDEA service requirements.
