Lawrence board approves interlocal cooperation agreement with Marion County development commission

The City of Lawrence Board of Public Works and Safety on July 10 approved Resolution No. 3-20-25, authorizing an interlocal cooperation agreement with the Metropolitan Development Commission of Marion County, Indiana.

The vote came after a short presentation from Greg Goodnight, chief of staff for the City of Lawrence, who said the city had been negotiating the agreement for several months and that the item had already passed the Metropolitan Development Commission (MDC) executive committee and the MDC board. "This is something we've been working on for the last few months with the Department of Metropolitan Development. It passed through their executive committee 4 weeks ago and then through their, they took a vote at their, last meeting, about 2 weeks ago. President, John Dillon is oversees that board," Goodnight said.

Miss Lawrence moved approval of the resolution; Goodnight seconded. The board approved the resolution by voice vote after members responded "aye." The board did not record a roll-call tally in the meeting transcript and took no additional substantive discussion during the agenda item.

The resolution authorizes the City of Lawrence to enter the interlocal cooperation agreement with the MDC. Goodnight said staff were available to answer questions; no substantive changes or amendments were raised during the meeting. The board proceeded to the citizen comment period after the vote.
