Council members discussed a proposed vacation of Main Street after staff presented an accurate description of the area. Members said existing power poles and probable utility easements might be affected if the city vacated the property, and that vacating without a formal procedure could create future problems for neighbors.
Council members asked staff to develop a written checklist and to examine whether utilities or other third‑party rights would survive a vacation. The council agreed to table the specific vacation request to allow staff time to prepare the procedure and to assess impacts, including whether additional parking or retaining walls will be needed as nearby projects proceed.
Separately, the council recommended approving an accurate legal description for a separate parcel (American Suburban Company East State edition), after brief review and a voice vote. The council did not take final action on the Main Street vacation; voting to table was carried by voice vote.
